Master Image



Preparing a Master Image


Hi my Friends!!

You need to do the next steps to create a master image:

1.  Install the OS remember use Windows 7 or Windows 8.

2.  Install Vmware Tools

3.  Install the last updates of Microsoft.

4.  Optimize the image for VMware Horizon View, Please refer to this link: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-View-OptimizationGuideWindows7-EN.pdf

5.  Install the applications.

6.  Install Vmware View I'm going to show you how to do it.


Launch the Vmware view agent with admin privileges; after click to Next


Read the License Agreement, Check I accept the terms in the license agreement, click to Next


Select IPv4 or IPv6 After that click to Next



Select of the features that you need and click to Next.




I always check Enable the Remote Desktop capability on this computer but this depence of your design.  After that click to Next.




This is the ready to install page just click to Install



In this part Click to Finish


Press Yes to Restart this computer.



7.  After restart the master imagen we have two options If you need linked clones you need shutdown the virtual machine and take a snapshot in shutdown state or If you need manual desktops just convert this virtual machine to template.

Installing VMware Horizon View Products




Installing VMware View Connection Server



For this installation We are going to construct the next deployment.




I am going to assume that the MS Active Directory is in our lab.  If you want to know how to deploy a Microsoft Active Directory you can see the Next post: 

Let's Start :)

  • Installing VMware View Connection Server


          Please refer to the next post for the prerrequisites:


First, We need to execute the installer with admin privileges




After that click in Next; We need to check I accept the terms in the license agreement; give click in Next again.




In this part; Select the destination folder (Default: C:\Program Files) for this case I created a drive partition called E. 




Here We are going to select View Standard because this is the first connection server; If you want a second server (other connection server) You have to select View Replica Server.
Take Note: HTML Access is for VMware Blast!!!





In this part we have to give the VMware Data Recovery Password. Refer the password and click Next




Here the Wizard request for the Firewall recommendation. I recomend that you let the automatically configuration.




We have two options if the local administrator users group in this server or account service for the administrator privileges in the View Admin; I recommend that you create a service account in Active Directory




In this part Uncheck Participate anonymously in the user experience improvment program after that just click in Next.



Here Give click in Install



After the installation finish uncheck Show the readme file. Then click to Finish.



After that click in Finish We need to go to our browser (please check this post for supported browsers:); Here I go. Visit this webpage: https://fqdnmyconnectionserver/admin or if you use the server https://localhost/admin. Fill the information with the admin user, after click in Login or Press enter in your Keyboard.



Then ingress your license.


After that You need to valid the information.



  • Installing VMware View Security Server
             Please refer to the next link for the prerrequisites:



First, We need to execute the installer with admin privileges




After that click in Next; We need to check I accept the terms in the license agreement; give click en Next again.




In this part; Select the destination folder (Default: C:\Program Files) for this case I created a drive partition called E. 




In this part We need to select the type of server and for this case is VMware View Security. After click in Next.



Here We have to pair the View Connection Server with the new View Security server; so give the FQDN or IP of your View Connection Server and click to Next.




Then go to your browser that you need to specify the pairing password; Servers -> Connection Servers -> Specify Security Server Pairing Password... Better ;) look the next image.




Here put your password and then select the during time... Click in OK again. 




Returning to the View Security Server, just type your pair password and click in Next




Here You need to put the URLs for external access and internal access. 




In this part I recomend that you let the automatically option. Then just give click in Next.




Here Click to Install




Uncheck Show the readme file and then click in Finish




  • Installing VMware View Composer


First, We need to execute the installer with admin privileges.

Take Note: Add this server to the AD





In this step we have to activate .Net Framework Feature; look this link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn482071.aspx 



After .Net Framework Installation click  Next




In this part check I accept the terms in the license agreement After that click Next



Here, you need to select the VMware View Composer installation file folders; then click to Next



Here we need to select de SQL Server Database DSN; After that click to Next





Please select the Port for this case is 18443. I recommend don't change this port.




In this part click to Install



In this step, please click to Finish


In this part restart the Server.



Here Again, we need to go to the View Connection Server for View Composer Registration.
Please refer to this path: Servers->vCenter Servers->Edit->Edit(View Composer). 
Once more again in Ok



Please select Standalone View Composer Server Fill the information after that click to Ok.


Here click in View Certificate


In this part click in Accept


Please refer the information and click to ok to finish this process.



We're ready with the VMware View Installation.
