Visual ESXTOP

Hello Guys,

In this post I will to show you how to use Visual ESXtop.

Visual esxtop is a VMware Fling tool and this tool is very interesting because with that tool we can visualize the command esxtop in a vmware vsphere.

In the next link you could download the tool:

Requirements:

Java (Lastest version)

How to use?

It's very easy to use a VMware Flings and this is my experience with this tool:

1. Download the tool

2. Extract the zip file:

In my case I use 7 zip but all the OS include a unzipped tool:

3. Then if you are using Windows you can use .bat file and if you are using Linux you can use .sh:

In my case I am using Windows and the execution is as follows:

After the execution of the command above is possible to see the next window:

And you need to connect to esxi host as follows:

Fill the information of the esxi host:

In the pictures is possible to validate the information:

Creating Multiple Disk with VMware PowerCLI

Hello Guys,

In this post I'm going to show you how to create multiple disks on Vmware vSphere using VMware PowerCLI:

The command has the next parameters:

New Hard Disk: Start the command
CapacityGB: Capacity in GB
Datastore: The name of the Datastore
StorageFormat: Could Be Thin, Thick or EagerZeroedThick
ScsiController: The name of the scsi controller where we assign the disk.

Save the virtual machine in a variable:

$vm=Get-VM -Name VMwareVirtualMachine

One Disk:

New-HardDisk -VM $vm -CapacityGB 1 -Datastore MyDatastore -StorageFormat EagerZeroedThick -Controller "SCSI Controller 1"

Multiple Disks:

ForEach ($HardDisk in (1..6))

{

New-HardDisk -VM $vm -CapacityGB 1 -Datastore MyDatastore - StorageFormat EagerZeroedThick -Controller "SCSI Controller 1"

}

VSAN DISK FAULT

FAULT DISK VSAN

First Step:

We need to Update the firmware for the Raid Controller and UCS VIC:

Cisco 12G SAS Modular Raid Controller

Runninng:

lsi-mr3 7.703.19.00-1OEM.670.0.0.8169922

Recommended:

Driver Version 7.706.09.00-1OEM.670.0.0.8019320

UCS VIC 1227 10-Gbps 2 port CNA SFP+(Cisco)

Runninng:

nenic 1.0.25.0-1OEM.670.0.0.8169922

Recommended:

Driver Version 1.0.27.0-1OEM.670.0.0.8169922 nenic

ESXi 6.7 nenic 1.0.27.0 NIC

After that you need to execute the next command:

Configure the vSAN IO timeout settings.

esxcfg-advcfg -s 100000 /LSOM/diskIoTimeout

esxcfg-advcfg -s 4 /LSOM/diskIoRetryFactor

Notes:

This is not required if you are running ESXI 6.0 patch ESXi600-201608001 or later.
These commands must be run on each ESXi host in the vSAN cluster.
These commands are effective immediately. No reboot is required.
These commands result in persistent changes and remains configured across reboots.
